Where The Ghosts Live

Some of you may know that I joined a few challenges this month.  The first one was, “The Ultimate Blog Challenge.”  The second is “The Article Writing Challenge.”  Both of these I have committed to writing a blog post daily for each of the 31 days.  After today, I have 1 week left.  I have been out straight because, not only have I taken on the two challenges, but I am doing it with two blogs.

I decided to start a second blog at the end of last month.  I have always had a fascination with the paranormal, starting at age 14 when my best friend and I both saw an apparition at the same time.  It left me very curious about the afterlife and changed how I saw death in a way.  After that incident, my home became “active.”  I saw things out of the corner of my eye, electronic items would turn on and off on their own, things I just couldn’t explain.  This carried over into the new homes I moved into.  Location after location seemed to have some sort of paranormal activity from time to time.

I watched horror movies, some of them scared me out of my whits.  But I never really was too freaked out by what was going on around me because I never had a negative experience.

Where the ghosts live

After starting this new blog, Where The Ghosts Live – The Haunted United States, things got interesting.  It was an immediate hit.  The other day, one of my posts produced a day of just under 800 views.  I was very excited!  I started meeting new people with the same interest, paranormal investigators and haunted home owners.  A week ago Friday, during the Blood Moon/Eclipse, I visited my first Haunted Mansion for a psychic fair.  I had never had a tarot card reading and didn’t plan on it that night.  It just happened by chance.  It was amazing.  I was told what my life’s purpose is and why I have the feelings I have and how it makes me who I am.  I also learned the cause behind the paranormal activity that has been going on in my life since I was 14.

I’d like to invite you to take a look as I share in detail, the results of my reading.  If you enjoy the posts, stay a while and check out the blog or even like it for updates.  I have been dabbling in a few areas this month but will most likely settle into doing mostly article style histories about haunted locations with short clips of evidence reported from that location.  I hope you enjoy.

Here are the two links for my tarot reading and I’ll include the most popular post’s link about my experience during the haunted mansion tour and what looks to me like a ghost in the mirror of the photo I took on my phone during the tour:

Faith And Inspiration To Lead You To Success

“All thoughts which have been emotionalized (given feeling) and mixed with faith begin immediately to translate themselves into their physical equivalent or counterpart.” – Napoleon Hill

What are you telling yourself that is stopping you from success?  What are those internally spoken words that you have faith in, that are stopping you from getting through a tough situation?  What if you could change your belief, have faith in yourself; what would you accomplish?  Have you ever stopped to think about this?

This quote takes me back a month or so to when my husband and I did the Spartan Race in Vermont.  The major obstacle was to climb the Killington Mountain Black Diamond 3,000+ feet to the peak.  I’m glad I didn’t know that when we got there.  It took everything I had, or so I thought, to climb to the last plateau.  As we rounded the last curve I realized it was not the last,  There was a vertical climb, straight up to the summit.  I thought we had already reached the summit!  After several hours of climbing already, I had given it all I ad and I didn’t have any more.  I took one look at that vertical insanity and said to my husband, “there is no way I can do that… <short pause> but I WILL!”

Inspiration

It was in that moment I had to flip the switch in my head and change my disbelief to faith, faith in myself, in my body and in my mind.

As I ascended the steep rocky climb to the top, I would tell myself, just take 20 steps then you can rest.  I took 20 and added 10 or more.  My heart was beating through my chest, my body covered in dirt, sweat pouring down my face and my legs were ready to give out from under me. I was more than twice the weight of 95% of the participants.  I would take a break for a few minutes, listening to the encouragement of people as they passed me by.  I knew they could cheer me on all day, that’s not what was going to get me to the top and back to the bottom, it was my own thoughts.  If I didn’t believe I could, I knew I would fail.  The recurring exclamation that I heard was an, “I PAID FOR THIS?”  It wasn’t just me.  Even the athletes were struggling.

I had to dig deep, sometimes with every step, keeping the attitude and faith that I could make it. Not only did I make it to the top, I made the descent, having to crawl backwards down very rocky terrain.  My husband, who is always my biggest supported confided afterwards that once he saw that last climb, straight up, he too thought there was no way I was going to make it to the top. I am not sharing this for the accolades, I am hoping you will draw inspiration from this story.  It was not my physical ability that got me to the top, or back down.  It was nothing more than the belief that I could and one baby step at a time.  That is what drove me.  I If I can do this, with the power of thought, what can you accomplish?  It is as simple as having faith that you can succeed at whatever you set your mind to, whether it be a business venture, a physical adventure, or overcoming something that has struck you down emotionally.  You must have faith in yourself. Perhaps you are not aware of exactly what the path will look like.  It will take planning and effort but you must first believe.  Follow me here as I go into further detail of how to strengthen your beliefs in order to reach your goals. Thank you for stopping in today. Missy Bell

My Unborn Child – Fascinating Results From My Tarot Reading

In the spring of ‘95

You were due to be born

I find after all this time

I still do mourn

I wonder if there was anything

That I could have done

But then I think

Of our second son

I shouldn’t be sad

But after 18 years

I still find that

My eyes fill with tears

It’s human nature

To play that “What if” game

In my heart I know

Our lives wouldn’t be the same

I can’t help but wonder

After all was said and done

If he is your spirit

The two of you are one

Maybe you just weren’t ready

To be born in May

Perhaps July 28th

Was your special day

I still mourn you

Because I guess I’ll never know

So my love and appreciation

For him does grown

I’ll think of you often

And blow kisses to the sky

To my long lost child

My girl, or my guy

I’ll think of you still

And hope that one day

We will meet in Heaven

This is what I pray

I wrote this poem a long time ago.  Please don’t be sad.  I dug this up because I had a tarot card reading the other day and the woman explained to me that my daughter, whom she did not know about, is the one who is causing doors to slam, footsteps in the hall, cold spots in the house, door handles jiggling, voices that more than one of us hear at the same time, what felt like knees in my back from the backseat of the car, seeing “shadow children,” and the TV turning off and on.  I was told she is a prankster and likes to hide things on my son’s girlfriend just to mess with her.  I asked Nic if her things go missing when she is here, without explaining what I knew.  She said yes.  She puts things in places and later they are moved.

I am fascinated by all of this.  It brings me peace and comfort to think that she has been with us off and on.  I will forever cherish that information.  It makes me feel that after all this time, I never really lost her.

Unborn Child Tarot ReadingThis was my first ever tarot reading and I almost didn’t do it.  I had wanted a palm reading instead but they were too busy.  I guess it was meant to be.

Destined For Greatness – A Poem for the Special Ed Teacher

DESTINED FOR GREATNESSDestined for Greatness

I am destined for greatness

This much I know

Exactly how I’ll get there

Only time will show

I believe I owe you thanks

For whom I will one day be

Because you have shown

So much faith in me

You have taught me lessons

Both big and small

I will do my best

To remember them all

So many days I struggled

To pay attention to what you say

You showed me patience and love

And forgave me those days

You have stood by me

Trying to find what works best

I’m sure all that you’ve learned

Has been put to the test

I truly feel

That you believe in me

That’s why am destined for greatness

You will someday see

Does A Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse Affect You

Full MoonTonight, (October 18, 2013) is a full moon with an eclipse.  Should you expect anything in particular?  What are some of the studies saying about the full moon and how it affects us emotionally and physically?  Does it affect our relationships?  Have you ever noticed a difference in yourself or others during a full moon?

The most common effects of a full moon that are mentioned online are; mood, fertility, reproductive behavior, birth rate, blood loss, human behavior, law and order, politics and sleep quality.  But a great number of studies are said to be inconclusive as to what the direct effects are.

According to many sources, the words, “lunatic” and “lunacy” derive from the Latin word, “Luna,” meaning moon.  Their earliest uses date back to the 1500’s.

I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase, “It must be a full moon,” when people start doing things out of the ordinary or out of character.

During the time of the full moon you many notice an increased staff of police on patrol as well as in the medical fields.

Wiki suggests that studies are inconclusive that a full moon has the ability to affect us much other than a slight lack in sleep.  The webpage sites, “People notice if something dramatic happens during a full moon, but do not notice when nothing dramatic happens; furthermore, dramatic occurrences that do not occur during full moons are typically not counted as evidence against the belief.  Believers are further bolstered in their belief through communal reinforcement: The more people talk about the effect, the more people notice spurious relationships.”

I can tell you, from my experience that I believe if I had kept proper notes that I would have been able to support the fact that indeed, the full moon has an affect over a great number of people but maybe not all.  I have worked in the field of customer service for most of my life and observed an increase in irritability, irrational thought processes and behaviors and a higher than normal increase in rudeness and abruptness.  Could this be linked to the decrease in sleep that studies have concluded to be a cause of the full moon?

I recall knowing with certainty when it was a full moon based on the behaviors of alarm signal activity and the increase in customer behavior when I worked as a dispatcher for a commercial alarm company.  There was a higher number of false alarms, panic and escalated customer service complaints.

My friend Nicole is a dog trainer and she states that the puppies in class seem to let her know it’s a full moon by acting with a sense of restlessness and crazy behavior.

In addition to this evening being a full moon, there will also be a Penumbral  Eclipse (meaning the Earth will move between the sun and the moon causing a partial dimness of the moon) that can be seen in several countries, including the U. S.  It will not be very visible except around 7:50pm EDT where you may see a shadowy smudge.

If you believe in astrology, which I do, it will interest you to know that an eclipse of a full moon generally indicates endings or culmination points.

Susan Miller from Astrology Zone has this to say, “Take any message you hear at the time of an eclipse seriously. There usually is no way to get a situation reversed. If someone brings news you don’t like on an eclipse realize that there is little chance you can get it reversed, at least not for four months, if ever. See the news as essentially a non-negotiable decision and try to move on.  Events that follow an eclipse have more weight than events brought on by a normal new or full moon. In fact, an eclipse is like a turbo-new or full moon packs much more energy and punch. An eclipse may even bring on an event that seems ‘fated’.  Eclipses always bring unexpected changes of direction if you have a planet that will be touched.”

What have been your experiences and what is your personal opinion on this subject?  Let me know your thoughts below…

My Baby Girl

I wrote this poem about my niece, Stephanie when she was a baby.  I wrote it through the eyes of her parents.  This is one of the poems I’ve had published.  I hope you like it.

945245_10151437439488456_607749744_n

MY BABY GIRL

A child so young in age

But in wisdom is growing fast.

I wish I could stop the hands of time

And keep her within my grasp.

There’s so much I’d like to teach her.

I’m sure I’ll have the time.

Down the road I’ll be proud to say,

“That little girl is mine.”

For now I watch her closely

As she slowly learns to walk.

It seems I know what she’s thinking

And yet she can barely talk.

I’ll try to teach her the best I can

To learn what’s right and wrong.

In years to come I truly hope

Her values will be strong.

In a few years she won’t be so young.

With her smile she’ll rule the world.

The men will think she’s a beauty

But she’ll still be my baby girl.

StephShe is grown now and her smile does rule the world and she did grow into a beauty.  She is also a wonderful young woman.  She is a nurse in the Neonatal Unit.  She is making a huge difference in the lives of those babies and their families.  I am so very proud of the woman she has become and I knew then that I would be.

If you enjoy this poem, I have published a book of my poetry called, “Heart Versus Mind: Words That Touch Your Heart,” that can be found on Amazon.com or Lulu.com.

Taking Things for Granted

1378540_10151694935438456_596636773_nI was traveling down the highway today when I realized that this is the first year in many that I can actually recall enjoying the fall foliage.  I have been living here in New England since I was 5.  I suppose when you spend so much time around something that you become immune to it.  The realization makes me feel like I have been asleep for years, unconscious to my surroundings.

My mother loves to tell the story of when I was very young, most likely around 6, when we were in the car one October day and I said to her, in all my innocence, “Someone should tell God that he does a really nice job painting the leaves.”

I’m not sure what the cause was to heighten my awareness this year but I am grateful.  Perhaps it’s because I have been out in nature more or that I’ve been taking so many pictures.  Maybe It’s a part of my recent awareness in the here and now.

I started noticing the changes early on.  It started out as a few leaves and became gradual as the more healthy trees seem to stay green longer.  The colors vary and each tree is unique and magnificent in its own way.  It reminds me of us. How we go through phases in our lives where we feel like we are dying inside but everyone else still seems to see our beauty.  It’s still there.  The leaves may completely fall and the trees may seem bare, but it is not long before the flakes of winter arrive here in New England and the trees show their beauty as they stand tall, holding snow on each branch as if to say, “I caught this for your to admire.”  A sign of strength.  The spring comes and life returns as with us, the cycle of the things we go through in our lives.

Take time to notice the beauty in, not only your surroundings, but in others in your life as well.  Don’t take the beauty of others for granted, just because you see them all the time.

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

1658725282_8c2fe5b242_oIt’s time to start planning your vacation for next year.  May I suggest one with amazing beauty, history and adventure?  I lived in Albuquerque, NM for 3 1/2 years when my husband was in the military and had the opportunity to even work this festival which gave me the chance to see the beauty up close and personal.  I wanted to share with you a bit of the joy it brought us by informing you of what the event is about and some of the photos I gathered on the net.  Mine are all put away in photo albums from 19 years ago so they are a bit outdated.  I would love to go back.  This year’s event just ended last week.  I should have put this post together much sooner.

The picture to the left looks very similar to the tent I worked when I was there back in 1994.  I sold these beautifully handcrafted balloons.

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta – The World’s Premier Balloon Event has much to choose from over the 8 days it’s in town.

Our Second Miracle Child – Austin Patrick

We had a beautiful 15 month old toddler, Daniel, the love of our lives.  We lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the time we got the news.  We were shocked to learn that I was pregnant – again.  Just weeks prior we were devastated by a miscarriage.  I was about 2 months along when it happened.  We had our hopes so high for a second child.  I won’t dwell on the negative but I must mention it because I feel it is one of the things that makes Austin a miracle baby.  If I hadn’t lost the second baby, Austin wouldn’t have been conceived and wouldn’t be with us today.

Shortly after we found out I was pregnant we moved into a three bedroom house on the military base and started to fill the extra room with new baby items.  We only lived there for about 4 months before Mike was discharged from the military and we made the move back to New England.  I was so grateful to be out of that house.  There were too many windows and I was so afraid that someone was going to break in.  I was overprotective of this pregnancy, which made me very paranoid.

When we picked Daniel’s name, we couldn’t come to a conclusion with the names we had chosen so we randomly opened the bible and chose the first name we saw.  That’s how we chose his middle name as well.  It was different with the second child.  I was a second child and was named after a soap star.  Why not, I thought.  I never missed an episode of Days of Our Lives at the time, in fact, I watched it more than once some days.  I thought the character, Austin, played by Patrick Muldoon was very handsome.  The combination just worked well, Austin Patrick.  And that’s when the trend was started.  My nephew, who was born just months after Daniel was the second child in his family.  My brother and his wife named him Dallas.  My cousin named her second child, Sydney.  It became a joke that if any of my other cousins had a second child, it should be named after a city.  But I digress.

945245_10151437439488456_607749744_n

Austin was born weighing in at 9 pounds even and 21 inches, even.  He was a perfectionist, day one.  I remember when he was a toddler, if he was going to eat, he had to have something in each hand or he would cry.  For instance, if we were going to give him a donut, we would have to give him two mini donuts.  If we gave him two halves of a larger donut, one for each hand, he would cry because it was broken. His birth went as planned and the only traumatic part was a bit of postpartum with spinal headaches while trying to care for a newborn and an active 2-year-old.  The doctor who was going to bring him into the world insisted we have a C-section because his brother was 10 pounds 4 ounces and chances are he would be just as big.  Daniel was too big to be delivered naturally and was 2 weeks late. They didn’t want to risk similar complications with Austin.  The first date the doctor chose was Daniel’s birthday so we told him we wanted to reschedule.  He chose a date 2 days later but then backed out because he literally had forgotten that he had a golf game scheduled that day.  This is why Austin’s birthday is 5 days later than his brother’s.

 580326_10151437440258456_607711852_n431158_10151437440093456_1721553512_n

Having a brother who is only two years older, it’s almost another miracle that he is still with us.  He had a hard ball throw at him that missed his head by centimeters and he was kicked in the head with his brother’s dress boots when he threatened to take Daniel’s toy when he was learning to crawl.

This past November, Austin and his best friend, Jory went to spend some time with a girl Austin didn’t know.  They were driving around with her, her friend and a mutual friend of all of them.  They wanted to just drive randomly and explore but the GPS they had wasn’t working.  They decided to go back to their friend’s house to get Jory’s GPS from his car.  Their friend decided to stay home.  He didn’t feel comfortable about the situation.  Austin had been in the middle seat when it was the 5 of them but moved to the passenger back seat when their friend stayed home.  It wasn’t too much later that the car they were in hit a tree head on.  If Austin had been in the middle seat he might not be here today.  The lap belt would not have protected him as well as the shoulder strap and the way they impacted, the boys heads would have collided.  All that being said, he is lucky to have only gotten a compound fracture.  That in and of itself could have been more tragic if Jory, who had a concussion, hadn’t been conscious enough to call 9-1-1.

994951_10151689703613456_1094455041_n
I remember one day we were relaying this story to his English teacher when he returned to school in a wheelchair.  There were several girls standing around listening.  Austin’s friends.  My comment was, “He came into this world as a miracle and he will stay in this world by a miracle.”  And all the girls cried.

Let me leave you with a happy ending.  Austin is running now.  He has very few limitations.  He is meant to do something great with his life and we have no doubt that he will.  He is a brilliant young man with a great talent and love of music.  He is a people person, very comedic with the presence of a stand up comedian,  He has a way of calming people and helping others stay logical.  He brings me great peace when I throw myself off track and shares a great deal of my life philosophies and keeps me open minded.  I love him for all he is.

My miracle children.  I am grateful for both of them.
